Screen capture of video installation. I used an IR-distance sensor to measure the proximity of the viewer to the piece and software Max/Msp. For this piece I intended to study the role of "the stranger" in our lives. For me, this role is being part of our lives for fractions of seconds to disappear of the collective memory afterward. As the viewer got closer to the screen, more strangers appeared on the video and the sound of a crowd was heard. As the distance between viewer and screen was bigger the strangers disappeared slowly fading out the crowd noises and disappearing of the collective memory. 2009 |
